Last Planning meeting is ahead!

Next week will be the "final" planning meeting, then it will turn to emails flying around as we approach May 17th! Anyone interested in joining the planning please drop an email to rollandstroll@hotmail.com

I'll attach the "how to donate", and "how to register a team" at the end of each post from here on out, so you can tell people to go to rollandstroll.blogspot.com to learn how to donate..

If you want to donate to a walker who has already formed a team... you can go to http://www.jdrf.org/ and click "Donate" under the sneaker icon. On the left hand side you'll see a section that allows you to search by the walkers name, or team name, or state. Please find them and show your support!

3 weeks!

Wow.. it's hard to believe, but just 3 weeks to Roll & Stroll 2009! Things are coming together fast and furiously... there are volunteers to organize, event day logistics to work through, interviews are appearing on the schedules, PSA's are hitting the airwaves... and it's all so much fun!

Be sure to set up your teams... and let people know how they can support you online. How to register a team and how to donate online is posted below:

We just received word of a new, fun event in downtown Rochester going on tonight. Please see the note below regarding an event Darren Groteboer and Chris Chafoulias are putting on. Wendy and I plan to attend (at least for some portion of the evening!) The 3 establishments they are visiting are all sponsors of the 2009 Roll & Stroll!

Hello all, I wanted to invite you out to the 1st annual Walk, Wobble, Crawl. This is a fundraising event that Chris (Chaf) Chafoulias and I are doing to support Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. O.K. DON'T STOP READING we are doing this on our own and are not asking for donations (although we will definitely take them!) Chris and I couldn't make the real JDRF walk so we thought we better walk anyway. So tomorrow night Friday the 24th Chris and I will be walking.......from Kathy's Pub........to Sontes.........to Chester's all night long (with a few time-out's) so please stop by and have a drink with us, take a lap with us or just laugh and take a picture of Chaf's walking shirt! Remember you don't have to donate any money if you don't want but Chris will be matching all donations if you want to donate (he won't know this until he gets this email)!! We will be out from 4pm to 2am so please stop by, we will need a ride home!

Online Donation Tool Available Soon!

JDRF has helped to set up their online tool for accepting donations to the Roll & Stroll 2009! We'll be providing training on 'how-to use' the tool in the upcoming weeks. Stay tuned for more information on that.

Team Spirit Award!

New this year, Roll & Stroll is going to recognize the top Team Spirit! How do you win? Well, that's yet to be determined. What do you win? haha.. also not yet determined!

Don't let all this "to be determined" deter you. Start thinking about how you want to display your team spirit, is it with colors? themes? costumes? noise makers? Whatever drives your spirit is what we hope to see on display!

Healthy Living Fair

We staffed a booth Thursday at the Healthy Living Fair. Pretty good crowd until the Thunder Snowstorm got rolling! They actually shut down the event a bit early due to weather. We were able to connect with some people, and share information about JDRF, as well as Roll & Stroll!

We have successfully reserved the shelter at Soldiers Field again for the May 17th Roll & Stroll! With so many events taking place all summer long, it's never a sure thing the shelter will be avaialble, but again for 2009, we've got a location!

Great Gift / Contribution!

Hi all.. hope you're finding this to be a wonderful Holiday Season! Wanted to let you know of a fantastic gift from an area family. Each Christmas, this family comes together and instead of excessive gift buying, they chip in money for a charitable donation, and the 'host family' then selects where the contribution goes.

Well, this year, they selected JDRF (earmarked for Roll & Stroll in honor of one of their family members!) Very nice! Thank you!
